A BIOLOGIST STRIVING TO SURVIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA
Home Page
Contained herein are the epic tales of a struggling biologist; his endeavors, hardships, the occasional triumph, and events involving his zany neighbors. From missions in the field as a biologist in South Florida to wildlife encountered at his home in the unlikely Bahia Mar, these tales are called "Aventuras." Follow the Aventuras Indices link above for chronological and categorical indices.
Here's some commentary received from a small and sometimes dedicated group of readers:
"Clearly the spirits are deterring bat presence. And you call yourself a scientist..."
-Fred, October 2009
"Keep-um coming. I learn something new with every Aventura. Thanks!"
-A.G. Marquez, November 2011

-C.J. Bryan, November 2010
"Grapefruit tree pics? You guys need some girls!"
-S. Postel, August 2008
"I enjoyed your latest saga of the wetlands. I felt that I could visualize the surrounding area you described. Thank you for allowing my presence."
-C.J. Sanders, April 2006
"Good God! What Next???"
-S.T. Sherwood, August 2007
"Good one Mick! Great mix of humor, storytelling and fact divulging encased around your internal struggle of working ultimately for tree-hugger haters."
-D.A. Hubbard, October 2005
"Review: Dear dead deers and other friends. The Memiors of Michael - Chapter Umpteen: Once again Hubbard mesmerizes his loyal cc list with tales from the road, the trail and the really thick poky bushes. No-one else can quite capture the ambiance of a multi-week field assignment - we follow with trepidation in his footsteps, along a long and convoluted path peppered with peripheral images of a majestic coastal swamp canopy, a bowling alley pizza and a nuclear weapons silo. Even if he does paint his traveling companion as a bit more of a freak than he proabably really is, in the words of the author 'I love the smell of stinky boots in the morning...' and you will too. This one smells like a winner...
-The Cockeyed Optimist" (a.k.a. Fred), April 2005
"I would say take the boat and find the tarpon, but you and boats have a history that I don't want to be a part."
J. Putnam, September 2007
"You are so not right!"
-E. McCarty, September 2007
"WE CAN EVADE REALITY. BUT WE CANNOT EVADE
THE CONSEQUENCES OF EVADING REALITY."
- Ayn Rand
